WORLD MEET 2012 SEATTLE in AUGUST! I WILL BE GOING! I HOPE YOU CAN GO, TOO!
Hello and thanks for stopping by! I have been on VT going on 7 years now and I enjoy every aspect this site has to offer from obtaining travel information, to helping others with travel info, making friends and providing a photo album for my family/friends that is accessible "virtually" at any time.
I've had a most interesting life thus far. More about that in my bio. It's been an incredible journey. "Life is Good" is what the wonderful man in my life always tells me. But yet, as good as life can be, life is also too short. It is my hope, that in my lifetime, I can see the world.
I live about 20 minutes east of Los Angeles but consider SoCal (Southern California) my home. Any given weekend, I'm in Huntington Beach, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Big Bear, who knows! I'm definitely not a stay at home kind of person. I'm always on the go and always wondering where are we going next.
This year we traveled to Italy and Germany in May for three weeks! The longest trip I have ever taken and my first trip to Italy and Germany. So, every moment I had, I was taking pictures like crazy! We started out in Rome. There is so much to see and do there. This was one of my favorite Italian cities to visit. But, I have to say, I was amazed how different all the Italian cities were from one another. After a few days in Rome, we rented a car and drove through Tuscany and stopped off at Montalcino, Sienna, Pisa, Pistoia, Florence and Venice to name a few!
The highlights on this trip for me was seeing the huge, beautiful churches throughout Italy. The architecture so spectacular that nothing in the United States can even compare. Every inch of detail and you really didn't know where or what to look first. The preservation of the ancient Roman empire was also amazing. You could just imagine what life may have been like during that time.
And, the food! Oh my goodness, the food was absolutely delicious. I didn't expect how simple the cooking would be but it was the quality of the components that make it wonderful! Fresh, ripe produce, beautifully cured meats, freshly made pasta was all so good. I was surprised how little garlic and basil was used (in the regions we visited). And, the wine! I found a new respect for Italian wines. Especially, the Brunello di Montalcino!
After two weeks in Italy, we took the train to Frankfurt where my boyfriend's family and friends live. Even though this was my first trip to Germany, we didn't get to do too much sight seeing. This trip was more about my boyfriend reconnecting with family and friends. We visited his grandmother who was 96 years of age with her health failing rapidly. I mostly wanted to experience the German cuisine as this is not common back at home and I did enjoy it. I'm not much of a white wine drinker but we did have some wonderful wines. We stayed at his parent's home just outside of Frankfurt in a beautiful rural setting.

I will have to go through your Rome pages as we are going there in a few weeks. I'm a possibility for Seattle but can't make a firm commitment just yet.
