"Home of Sagarmatha" Nepal by ozalp
Nepal Travel Guide: 3,920 reviews and 10,570 photos
Nepal is the home of the Goddess Sagarmatha, The Mount Everest. And this country was our base camp during out Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet trip. We left our luggage in Hotel Yak and Yeti and left for Bhutan on our first day in Kathmandu. We came and went several times and I started to feel that Hotel Yak and Yeti and Kathmandu Airport were my home.
Nepal is an old kingdom and a new republic. Its cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity is immense. There are 60 ethnic groups and 90 or more different languages on this small country. Population is 30 million and 80% of the people are Hindu.
Nepal flag consists of two triangles: A rare shape in the world of boring rectangular flags. It has two images on it, sun and moon.
I added hotel and restaurant tips on the pages of the cities I visited. You can check them here:
Kathmandu
Pokhara
Dhulikhel
- Pros:Quite an experience, colorful
- Cons:Chaotic
