| Kyanjen-the nice village of Langtang Valley |
This is the place where one should go at least one time at his life. This place is located at the altitude of nearly 4000 meter at sea level. There are about 15-20 small hotels, naming popular peaks and places of the country. The hotel owners are mostly native of the district. Apart from the hotel-business, the another occupation of the people of the place is Animal Husbandary and High-Altitude Agriculture. Mainly Potato, malt, barley is grown widely. These days people started to bring other food grains from outside the valley - they are rice and other junk food and bottle packed drinks.
You can reach Kyangjen from Syabrubesi by 3 days trekking. The major villages are Bamboo, Ramche, Langtang Village, Ghodatabela and Kyanjen Gompa. The Syabrubensi can be accessed form Kathmandu by one day travel by bus. But it is necessary to confirm early either there is clear way to reach there - because there is one big landslide in Mulkharka above Kalika. Some times especiallly in the rainy season it blocks the road. The small hotels are available on the route with the facilities of hot shower, hot ovens for heating common room. Wooden furnished rooms are the most typical characteristics of the hotels. If you would like to have meals of local products, it also available.
In the returning way you can come back from the same way or furthe you can choose the another way. If you have time and the team you can choose the way through passing Kanja La and reach to Helambu. Please be confirm with your travel agent about this before you start the trekking.
The major peaks around the valley are Yala Peak in North and the Nayakhang Peak in the south of the Valley. There are several Glaciers, and Rock Glaciers can be seen Yala Kharka.
I have read on newspaper that Yeti can be found and seen at and around Ghodatabela... BUT I DID NOT SAW and I do not claim that we can see. One nice thing I have noticed during my travel to this area is the CARAVAN OF YAK and the CARAVAN OF SHEEP. |
