"Sweet little Ambo" Ambo by Marywhotravels

Ambo is one of the two port towns of the island of Yakushima. We chose to stay in Ambo because we'd read that it was the smaller and more picturesque of the two, and I think we made the right decision. Although it was a little disheartening to be constantly inundated with rain or thick fog, I thought Ambo was charming. While it isn't that close to the main tourist attractions, it sits right on the main highway and has bus access around the island and up the mountain, which looms right behind the town.
