This is the town we stayed in for New Years. It is about 30 mins outside of Amsterdam by train. The first day we took the long way to get there. The hotel is very close to the train station, but we walked all through the town (with our big packs) and asked everyone for directions. It is really a beautiful town.
Here we are caught in a snow storm in Ijmeuden. It hardly ever snows in Holland, so when it does everything shuts down. We managed to catch the very last ferry from Amsterdam, but there were no taxis running because of the snow. A kind bus driver took us as close to the beach as he could but we ended up walking for an hour in a blizzard!! It was almost normal for me, having lived in the Rockies my whole life, but Matt hated it and questioned why we are moving to Canada.
Here we are on a big ferry from England to Holland. This boat was the closest I've ever come to cruising. This ferry had 2 cinemas, 4 restaurants, a casino, childrens area, sports bar. It was very impressive. We found a window seat and stayed there for the duration of the trip.
