We were planning to stay in Santiago for the night but couldn't find anything reasonably priced that was available. So we decided to drive to Padron figuring things would be more reasonable. We had stopped at a hotel on the main street but they were asking 80 Euros. Too much for just a place to sleep. So we asked them if they knew of a place that might be cheaper and they told us about the Rosalia. They gave us directions and we went on our merry way. All we needed to remember that it was across from the train station.
Well, we finally found it just on the other side of the RR tracks. A little concerned, the first thing we asked the man at the front desk was how often the trains came through. He re-assured us that there were no trains that came through at night. So with a relief, we proceded to ask about the price. It turned out to be 45 Euros for two double beds. We'll take it.
Surprisingly, the room was quite large. It was very clean and simply decorated and it included a TV. The bathroom was also a good size with a tub/shower combination and bidet. We had a very peaceful night like the man said with no trains until the next morning. . It turned out to be a really pleasant stay. There is a small cafe in the hotel. So before we left, we had a large cup of cafe con leche and a pastry.
I would definately recommend the Rosalia if you're looking for a quiet, out of the way place. The price is good and the people that work there were very helpful and friendly.
