Ive traveled to a few African countries but none as freindly as The Gambia if you are looking to experience Africa Here is a great starting point, I have visited twice over the last 10 years, Made a lot of freinds, do take time to get to know the locals its not hard ! as everyone is a guide and a life long freind,But also watch out as many are just interested in your money! also take a box of pencils or pens, notepads etc as the rural Children need them and will run after you smiling and asking for them, The hotel's are good we stayed both times at the Atlantic Hotel, I only wish i had spent more time in Rural Gambia
As one of my great loves is fishing we took time to charter a boat to go out fishing, we caught a couple of decent fish Barracuda, and gave all but one to our fishing guide. But we took one back to the hotel and had the chef cook it up for dinner that night delicious.

Great tips here, have not considered Thye Gambia, maybe once I have ompleted more of Southern Africa.
Excellent page about Gambia. I'm sure it's worth to visit.
Looks like a nice place to visit. Good page here, too. But ... kilts? What is the connection with scotland here?
Always quite fancies visiting here, but never been too sure what to expect! Nice page.
Lovely page on the Gambia Pete, I too enjoyed my trip here. I think we may have visited the same fish smokery. :-)
Really interesting page Pete. Love your opening photo!
Gambia was my first Africa experience. I stil keep great memories. O and I love the smoking fish smoker pic. Great page !
Love the Santa!! One day I might get to Africa. My daughter loved it there.
Nice birds-eye view of the Gambia Pete. I stayed a couple of doors down from the Atlantic. Is that graveyard still outside the Atlantic (beachside)?
