This was my first visit to this rugged Island in the western mediterranean and it was to be a flying visit arriving at 3.30pm and departing the next morning at 6 am, My mission to deliver some urgent graphics for a Conference taking place in Ajaccio. Well i wasnt going to waste this oppertunity so camera in hand i set off to have a quick look around
First a little about the Island of corsica, its french territory, Its the third largest island in the western Mediterranean and is approx 180kl long by 80kl wide it has a very rugged coast line and offers great water sports such as sailing, diving and fishing and is best known as the birth place of Napoleon Bonaparte

Ajaccio was occupied by the italians during the second world war , untill the people revolted along with help from the french resistance fighters in sept 1943 , it had been ruled for 200 years by the french, but prior to that it was under Genoese rule for about 500 years
So even today Corsica is a real cultral exception in france, its language and culture are different and this is seen in the corsiscan quisine which is rich in tradition with such delicacies as Bruccia a goats cheese, wild boar , coppa, lonzu; cold cuts of pork, and figatellu a pork liver sausage

What a gorgeous cover photo! I' could spend hours looking at the boats and water...sipping coffee (or wine)...as the day slipped past me.......

corsica is a marvellous place ; unfortunately , the country is on strike 6 months of the year (boats , planes, and so on)

i love the stone features of the hotel! i dont know too many people that have been to corsica! it would definitely be an interesting place to explore. cheers mate!
