Mysore the cultural capital of Karnataka Mysore was the capital of the wodeyar dynasty, which reigned from 1399 until independence in 1948, except for a short period at the end of the 18th century when Haidir Ali and his son Tipo Sultan briefly took charge.
Nowadays it is a Mecca for tourists, with its grand palaces and rich heritage, as its 770 mts above sea level it boasts a pleasant climate ranging from 22-30 degrees centigrade

The city is also renowned from its Sandal wood products, and if you visit in October don’t miss the Dasara Festival a 10day extravaganza celebrating the victory of truth over evil.
