Mysore the cultural capital of Karnataka

Mysore was the capital of the wodeyar dynasty, which reigned from 1399 until independence in 1948, except for a short period at the end of the 18th century when Haidir Ali and his son Tipo Sultan briefly took charge.
Nowadays it is a Mecca for tourists, with its grand palaces and rich heritage, as its 770 mts above sea level it boasts a pleasant climate ranging from 22-30 degrees centigrade
The must see sites include The Royal Palace, the Chamundi hills
The city is also renowned from its Sandal wood products, and if you visit in October don’t miss the Dasara Festival a 10day extravaganza celebrating the victory of truth over evil.
Mysore is well serviced with hotels of all standards from Magnificent 5 star luxury to basic board and lodgings

Hi Pete, Beautiful description, but what does "a style that blends Hindi, Muslim, Rajput and Gothic" actually mean ;-) Nice page!
