TROPICAL BORDERTOWN WITH STUNNING NATURE SHOW

RIO IGUAÇU

Argentinian-Brazilian borderline
I've done Foz by car from São Paulo , two days driving , saves a lot when you're 6 people and don't need to buy the airfares..... But when you approach the Foz airport you will fly over the meandering Rio Iguaçu , the sun reflecting from its dark waters bordered by lush tropical flora... If you're lucky and sitting on the left side of the plane you might allready get a quick glimpse of the waterfalls....
The Iguaçu waterfalls are like from out of this world ..... Just a few kilometers before Rio Iguaçu flows into Rio Parana ( the spot where Argentina , Brazil and Paraguay meet) the plateau on which the Rio Iguaçu meanders slowly , lazyly suddenly stops , brakes , forms a gigantic abyss and a following deep valley which flattens out after a while..... there the Rio Iguaçu falls like 100 meters or so and forms one of the truly great wonders of nature in the world.....
Here's calm Rio Iguaçu , halfway downstream from the falls on the way to meet Rio Parana.
halfway in , halfway out

THREE BORDERS , THREE CITIES

Here's Camila , with one foot in Argentina and the other in Brazil...... another 8 km or so downstream the river and both strips of land will meet Rio Parana with Paraguay on the other side.... Foz do Iguaçu is the Brazilian city , modern , with bustling tourism and perfect infrastructure , Puerto Iguazu is on the Argentinian side , smaller and less crowded with many indigenous indios selling their artesanal products... and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay , chaotic , tending to tourists with duty free electronics , perfumes , toys , cigarettes..... not my kind of place even though the last time I went I decided to leave my car in Brazil and took a moto-taxi.... a guy with a motorcycle who will crisscross between the cars stuck in the jam on the bridge and take you from one side to the other in no time for peanuts if you have the guts.....

FIVE MUST SEE IN FOZ DE IGUAÇU

There are of course more than 5 attractions for tourists in this area , I just want to mention those that I find subjectively the most interesting......Buying overpriced electronics and perfumes in duty free stores and visiting casinos in Argentina and Paraguay are not exactly what I crave for , but after 5 visits to Foz I'd say this is what you have to do : See the falls from the Brazilian side , see the falls from the Argentinian side , after seeing the falls from the Brazilian side , DO NOT MISS to visit the bird park near the entrance to the Iguaçu National Park (if you want to take a helicopter ride over the falls , you can do that across from the bird park ) , visit ITAIPU , the worlds biggest ( second biggest ?? ) hydroelectric plant on Rio Parana between Brazil and Paraguay and finally visit the THREE FRONTIER CORNER , where Argentina , Brazil and Paraguay meet at the conflux of Rio Iguaçu and Rio Parana.
See my tips about all these tourist attractions....
tourists..... o well.....

Foz = Falls? This looks like a fun place to visit. I like anywhere in the world that you can straddle a national border.
