Our family went camping outside of Canon City. Very pretty setting. Reminds me of parts of AZ and UT. Cacti grows here. Overall I think that Canon city is a great place to visit to camp, go white water rafting,or horseback riding. Interestingly Canon City is considered the "prison capital" as all the citizens there I guess petition to have the prisons built in this town. They have 10 i this town. We only saw 1 though. From what i understand the main revenues come from prisons and tourism.
The town is bigger than I had expected. Long and skinny to drive through.
