I spent about 9 years in Heidelberg, most of them studying for a degree in interpreting. It is a brilliant place to live, especially in summer. Of course, Heidelberg is not that big, so after a while you know a lot of the faces, but that's part of the appeal, I think. It's hard not to make friends (unless, of course, you refuse to leave your room). Also, it seems easier for foreign students to make German friends and vice-versa. You just will meet again, whether you want to or not. The downside is, that for people used to bigger cities this might feel slightly claustrophobic after a while. Another thing that I love about Heidelberg is the closeness to the forest and the river. The closer you live to the old town, that is the city centre, the closer you are to nature. So you can have your cake and eat it. |

LolaSanFrancisco Wed Oct 25, 2006 09:44 UTC Interesting (scratching my chin)... Maybe even in November when I'm there, I will climb up with my pegan party favors and put on my own play. |
