There's a lovely saying that you should give your children roots and wings and my parents have certainly done that.

I love my hometown and the region where I grew up with a passion. There are few things that lift my spirits more than to come home in spring and go walking in the hills: The fields and leafy trees a delicate, vibrant green, the fruit trees covered in clouds of white and pink flowers, the air fragrant and balmy.

In moments like that I can nearly feel my toes growing into roots and and boring their way deep into the earth.

Very few international tourists come to see it, so maybe on these pages I can show you the beauty of the Black Forest.
