I love Delhi

This was my second visit. Last year I went with my brother and he hated it. He freaked out. I loved it so much. The food, the monuments the hustle and bustle all appealed to my adventurous spirit. and the beer -- ahh the beer. My first day I took a car tour of Delhi including The Quib Minar. Surprisingly even though it was a holiday the place was quite empty. The minaret and the grounds surrounding it sure is worth the trip. During my last visit, I did missed the Quib, now I was seeing it for the first time. It was impressive but it must have been slendid hundreds of years ago.

So hot and steamy

It was 90F and these guys were working in this extreme heat in the gounds of the Quib Minar. There seems to be a lot of architectural excavations in this site. I hope it means that unlike many Delhi monuments this one will be well maintained. I had learned my lesson from my last visit and brought a broad brimmed hat as the baseball cap I wore in '07 gave me little protection form the fierce sun.

Wee Birdies

Unlike the workers, these parrots rested in the shadows in the ruins of the The Quib. I never knew there was parrots in India. It was quite thrilling to watch the brightly colored birds swarming in the air -- much more thrilling than the obiquitous pigeons we see in NYC. I spent two hours here, wnadering around, consulting my guide book and enjoying the sights.

In a nutshell:This is a very exciting place to be if a tad frenetic

I see that you had a problem with Rickshaw-wallah. I had warned of this in all my India pages- its a pity that you did not notice before your trip.Nice Pictures.
