Me and My Wanderings ..........

by travelswithsteve - last update: Apr 20, 2009

Off the coast of North Africa
Love being a traveller, never been much of a tourist.

Just returned from a brilliant road trip down from Krackow, thru the Czech Republic ending in Bratislava and am really trying to make the effort to get some pages written while it's fresh in my mind - so be patient.

But while Iv'e got your attention, I am off to Laos, planning a journey down the Mekong River (and thats planned for February next year)- So any tips, advice etc, would be great.

Will continue to write some pages of travels past and present as soon as I can. Steve

My top 5 tips and 1 big thankyou are;
1. Language barriers are overcome more easily with a big genuine SMILE.
2. Learn how to say "please" and "thankyou" in the language of the country your visiting.
3. Irrespective of how good your credit rating is back home - Cash will always work wherever you are.
4. Bottled water IS a life saver.
5. Never EVER pass a toilet without using it.
and not forgetting
6. Thankyou, thankyou to everyone at Lonely Planet, who apart from doing excellent day jobs, have on rare occasions proved themselves to be absolute stars.

Places I will get to soon;
Vietnam
Philippines
China
Burma
India
Nepal
Looking after her Dad - Southern Spain - Summer 2006. OK just 1 more beer.

Crossing The Road

Remember.
Always look left and right before crossing the road.
You never know what might be there !
Crossing The Road
I've had better days - So PLEASE let me through.

Border Crossings

Border crossings on foot, don't you just love them.
Simply present yourself, smile, get your passport stamped and off you go.

Oh, and there's the walk between the two.
Then:
The que (always)
The heat (unless it's raining)
The dust (unless it's muddy)
The touts (whatever the weather)

But then it's off to see what's round the next corner - fantastic.
