On the way back to the refuge I take this pic from the church bij night. It's illuminated.
This Romanesque church is from the 12 th century and dedicate to Saint Ludre or Lussor.
Inside there is a capital of a colomfrom 11th century show snakes bite ears of people ?

Along the old Berry canal 7 km behind Augy sur Aubois , you find a interesting castle: The Lienesse castle. It is private and you can't visit, unfortunatly. From out the 14th century, it was ether the propriety of Maguerite de Bourbon , granddaughter of King saint Louis.

We walked along this canal for about 40 km , not always of course. We visited the town around also.
The canal was build in 1840 . He have three parts: one from Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher to Vierzon and farther to Barengon.The second from Saint-Amand-montrond to Montlucon (see also my Saint-Amand-Mont rond page). The third part go from Bannegon to the Loire river in Marseille-les-Aubigny.
We follow it from Grossovre to Saint Amand Montrond.

If you are luky so we where , you'll pehaps see beavers swimming in the canal. Of course thij where reintroduse but I don't know anithing about when and how.
They where so fast that I had no time to take a pic of them . But be sure: They exist.
