The area

Meadows of the woodlands, forests of leafy trees, lvergers in flowers, sinuous rivers, mills at the edge of water, kiosks to be danced in the middle of the villages, blue stone oratories… make the richness of the landscapes of the regional Natural reserve of Avesnois. The cows animate with happiness this scrap-metal landscape. They are besides with the source of many dairy products whose Maroilles cheese is the floret.

It because it has a so remarkable inheritance, and is noticed, that Avesnois belongs to the great family of the regional Natural reserves of France.
Composed of 129 adherent communes, and 5 common partners, the regional Natural reserve of Avesnois extends on nearly 125.000 hectares and shelter more than 130.000 inhabitants.

Classified as “regional Natural reserve” in March 1998, its mission is to implement a project of durable development founded on safeguarding, management and the development of the inheritance, in narrow partnership with the inhabitants, the managers and the users of the mediums.

The Charter of the Park concretizes this project of development which engages the communes, the State, the Area North-Pas-de-Calais, the Department of North until 2008. It is on this basis which the mixed Trade union of the Park decides of the actions that its technical team implements in partnership with the local actors.
