Visit the Abbey church ! The current building dates back to 1120-1150 while the foundation of the abbey dates back to 1080 when the the bishop of Limoges, Gui of Laron, grants rights to two religious and their companions in order to be founded a prayer place (on the way of St Jacques of Compostelle)
Of pure Roman style "Limousin", the architect Abadie (equally architect of the Sacré Coeur to Paris) converts into 1873 the original belltower in the current tower. She is covered with "bardaux" tile sort wood some (chestnut) ---oooOOOooo--- Le bâtiment actuel date de 1120-1150 alors que la fondation de l'abbaye date de 1080 quand les l'évêque de Limoges, Gui de Laron, octroie des droits à deux religieux et leurs compagnons afin de fonder un lieu de prière (sur le chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle)
De pur style Roman-Limousin, l'architecte Abadie (également architecte du Sacré-Coeur à Paris) change en 1873 le clocher original en la tour actuelle. Elle est recouvertes de "bardeaux" sorte de tuiles en bois (chataîgner) ---oooOOOooo---

The Compostella way at Bénévent
It is not only to the church or close to the abbey that we notices we are on the road to Compostelle.
In fact, at the hotel of the Cedar, where we lodged for a night, a shell of Sint James above the entry door symbolizes the pilgrimage since of very numerous years.

Ce n'est pas seulement à l'église ou près de l'abbaye que l'on n'aperçois que l'on est sur la route de Compostelle.
En effet, à l'hôtel du Cèdre, où nous sommes logés pour une nuit, une coquille Saint Jacques au dessus de la porte d'entrée symbolise le pèlerinage depuis de très nombreuses années.
