"The Futuristic City That Captured My Imagination!" Tokyo by Krystynn

Tokyo Travel Guide: 4,453 reviews and 8,294 photos

Have you seen the Harrison Ford (1980s) movie "Blade Runner?" Well, Tokyo in my eyes is somewhat like that... only better!

Everything is so high-tech here. But if you're craving for a taste of traditional Japan, just head to some parts of Tokyo and voila! You'd be forgiven for thinking that you've been twirled back in time to the Edo era. Seriously.

Tokyo has ALOT to offer a regular tourist/ traveler and you don't even have time to think about shopping (which is terribly, terribly EXPENSIVE to begin with).

Let's start with the artsy side of Tokyo first, shall we? This throbbing city has MANY museums that will certainly appeal to aficionados of art, history and culture. Pop by their different neighborhoods - it's like a mini-city within the City!

ASAKUSA district is well-known for its temples and the famous Asakusa Kannon Temple.

GINZA is the place for folks with a bourgeois taste in (for?) shopping.

MARUNOUCHI district is where you head to if you hope to catch a glimpse of the Imperial family. :-)

ROPPONGI district is for those die-hard party-animals reading this page (GREAT nightlife!!).

AKIHABARA district has the LARGEST concentration of electronic shops IN THE WORLD. Don't miss it!

SHIBUYA and HARAJUKU have great beautiful shrines and equally great shopping (albeit EXPENSIVE) to boast of.

Ah, and SHINJUKU have lovely towering skyscapers (whip out those cameras, quick!) and great shopping to entice every tourist/ traveler.

Lastly, UENO is the place to go to if you're searching for tranquility (read: lovely parks), spiritual enlightenment (read: temples) or just want to museum hop (read: many great musuems!).

See? There is just soooo much to do here in Tokyo. Where would anyone have time to think about the expensive shopping here?

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:All Japanese people deserve an award for being so humble & polite.
  • Cons:I can't think of any. Seriously.
  • In a nutshell:The Japanese = Ichiban! You can invent a gadget & trust the Japanese to perfect it AND make 'em much CHEAPER!
