Greetings from the Space Coast!

I've finally made it.

And 30 hours of flight time later - from Singapore to Orlando via Amsterdam and New York - I'm finally fulfilling my dream to be a space traveler. Er.... O.K., wrong travelogue..... But seriously, it took me 30 hours just to see this part of the world. Mind you, this route is considered a 'short cut'. If I had taken the other route i.e. via Tokyo and then Los Angeles, it will take me longer to reach Kennedy Space Center.

Can you believe it?

But talking to a budding astronomer like myself, this little bit of sweat is worth it.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in space travel, space shuttles, the discovery of new galaxies and planets and solar systems. Imagine seeing video footages of man landing on the moon - it simply bowled me over.

So here I am. At last.

Kennedy Space Center is located right here in CAPE CANAVERAL - deemed as part of the 'Space Coast' in Florida state.

This is one place that I would highly recommend everyone to visit - especially budding astronomers and those who have always been interested to learn about space expeditions and what lies beyond our planet - but were afraid to ask! And yes, regardless of how long it'll take you to reach Kennedy Space Center from your hometown.

Besides viewing the actual space shuttles on display, you can check out "N.E.A.R" (it stands for - Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous) exhibit and video show; Galaxy Center (to watch an IMAX movie developed and produced by NASA); Astronaut Memorial and Shuttle Plaza where you can actually walk-through a full-scale Explorer orbiter space shuttle.

So, dear VirtualTourist members and Star Trek and Star Wars buffs, you MUST put Cape Canaveral down in your travel agenda the next time you decide to head off to sunny Florida.

Note: At the time of re-writing this page, NASA scientists have made significant progress by successfully landing 2 Rovers on Martian soil after a long 7-months journey. Congratulations, NASA!

This is getting everyone of us excited! Imagine - being able to see crystal clear photos of the Red Planet beamed to Earth from both "Spirit" and "Opportunity" rovers! Way too cool.
