My Favorite City In The World | The most famous bridge in the world! |
If I were given a choice to settle down in a city (anywhere in the world) outside of Singapore, I would surely choose San Francisco!
For where else in the world will you be able to find brilliant colors of ornately painted, bay window Victorian houses; the sounds of foghorns and clanging cable car lines and a crisp smell of the bay... coupled with wonderful and friendly residents?
Yes, only in San Francisco. ;-) |
| Be prepared to brave chilly winds even in summer! |
| | Exploring San Francisco By Foot Can Be Fun! San Francisco's world-famous landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, the Alcatraz, the Transamerica Pyramid etc are all a must-see. These landmarks and monuments all provide an unforgettable backdrop to an eclectic array of neighborhoods..... from bustling Chinatown and hip North Beach to the left-of-center Castro District and the recently culturized SoMa. |
| | Ah, San Francisco's charm is sooo infectious!
First-time visitors certainly won't want to miss visiting the tranquil Golden Gate Park, the artsy Palace of Fine Arts and rewarding themselves with a cable car ride on Nob Hill!
A stroll around Union Square or through the crookedest street in the world - Lombard Street or a peaceful hour gazing east from Ina Coolbrith Park can be equally just as inspiring.
Without a moment's hesitation, I decided to prolong my stay here from 1 week to a month.... blending in and living like a local. Well, at least for that month alone. ;-p
This city has the largest Asian population that I've ever seen. Thank goodness I didn't stick out like a sore thumb. In fact, I felt as if I were back home in Singapore or even, Hongkong for that matter. :-))
Ah.... Those were the days, my friend. And I will NEVER forget those special days..... My first visit to SanFran.
"Too often. . .I would hear men boast of the miles covered that day, rarely of what they had seen." - Louis L'Amour
Footnote: This travel page is written from my very first impressions of San Francisco during my first visit in 1990. I have since returned to this wonderful city at least 5 times over the years! My latest/last trip to SanFran was in January 2002. Time to visit this city again - soon. Don't worry, I'm in the process of updating my tips. So, they aren't ancient OK? ;-) I hope you'll find my experiences useful in helping you plan for your forthcoming holiday. Ciao.
