  • The HOLIDAY INN LONDON KENSINGTON SOUTH HOTEL (formerly known as the FORUM HOTEL) here in Knightsbridge.

Unlike most other London hotels, this is a nice first-class hotel which didn't burn a hole in my pocket. :-) Knightsbridge is a lovely area... quite unlike Oxford Street and Victoria Station areas. This hotel has a busy lounge, a Carvery, an English pub, interesting gift shops and a FANTASTIC coffee house which serves DELICIOUS English and Japanese (yes!) buffet breakfast daily....(costing about GBP15, if my memory didn't fail me...).

Unique Qualities: The Gloucester (pronounced as 'Gloister' and NOT Glow-chester, as I've heard some folks pronouncing!) tube station is just next door. How convenient can it get?

  • I found some lovely Bed and Breakfast joints (B&Bs) around the Cromwell Road area (just around the corner from Gloucester tube station). It's slightly more expensive than those found in the Oxford Street/ Victoria Station area. But hey, you can't beat this fantastic locality where just a few hops away is the fabled Knightsbridge.

Another cool B& B joint I'd like to recommend is the Penn Club at: 21 Bedford Place, London, WC1B 5JH.

This is a fabulous place located in the heart of Bloomsbury. The rooms are clean if not exceptionally cozy; the staff are all very friendly and the breakfasts good and filling.

For more info on Penn Club and to check on the latest rates, please contact: 0171-636-4718.
