UEFA European Champions 2007
When AC Milan won the coveted UEFA Champion's League trophy for the 7th time under extraordinary circumstances and sheer perseverance, half the city dashed to Malpensa airport to welcome them back with open arms from Athens!
Milan tifosi are always 100% behind the team - be it in good times or bad times (like the unfortunate Calciopoli incident) in 2006.
CONGRATULATIONS to Milan for defeating Liverpool and winning the coveted UEFA Champion's League trophy. Everyone went absolutely crazy in Milano when Milan were crowned CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE again for the 7th time on May 25, 2007 in Athens. Ecstatic crowds of fans congregated at the Duomo and we juz hugged and celebrated all week long! If you saw a subdued Italian that week in Milan, they were probably Inter fans ;-)
Grazie mille, Pippo Inzaghi, Ricky Kaka, Paolo Maldini e Andrea Pirlo! *
Congratulations also to the Italy National Team for winning the FIFA World Cup in 2006 under extraordinary circumstances and sheer perseverance!
Warning to Milan and Italy detractors: Think twice before you write a team off in the near future. You might just live to regret it. See what happens when people made life difficult for the Italy national team and my favorite team - Milan. We answered the critics by bringing back soccer world's 2 biggest prizes!

Celebrating Milan's win at Piazza Duomo!
When Milan beat Liverpool FC and won the UEFA Champion's League trophy for the SEVENTH time in May 2007, the entire city of Milan erupted into joy and wild celebration! The celebration lasted for a whole week. And upon the team's return from Athens, they paraded the Cup at Piazza Duomo (please see photo). So if you happen to be in Milan that week, perhaps shopping at the Galleria and wondering what the frenzy was all about - now you know why.
I heard that Inter tifosi (read: Inter soccer fans) left the city that same week and drowned their sorrows in some faraway pubs! :-) Sorry, I can't wait to rub it in.

Kaka e Ambrosini: Glory to Jesus!
II due protagonisti di questo finale thrilling si cercano.
A perfect picture moment captured by the photographers at acmilan.com showing Kaka's (left) joy at clinching Milan's 7th World Champion's League title in Athens in 2007 (as he celebrated with Milan's midfielder, Massimo Ambrosini).
Kaka is one of my favorite players in Milan and he's definitely the best playmaker in the world today. I hope he'll play with the team until he retires. Kaka is also one player who is proud to show that he is a born-again Christian. You go, champ!

Wax statues of Vieri & Maldini
Il calcio. Soccer/ Football.
Two very famous superstars who play equally important roles in the Italian Serie A. Christian Vieri in blue-striped shirt (during his long stint with Inter Milan. Vieri has since quit Inter)... and Captain Paolo Maldini (in red and black striped shirt) from AC Milan.
You can find their wax statues inside the San Siro Stadium. Not very life-like and can't be compared with the superb wax works at Madame Tussaud's.
Address: San Siro

Giuseppe Meazza Stadium aka San Siro
Please go watch a soccer match at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium aka San Siro Stadium and cheer for AC Milan (YES!) or for Inter-Milan (NO!). These teams are 2 of Italy's biggest football teams.
Note: However there can be only be ONE EXCELLENT TEAM - yes, Forza MILAN. The local Milan derby results will confirm my bold statement.. ;-) Yes, in case you haven't already discovered, I am a MILAN fan.
For non-soccer fans, just a gentle reminder and note that the soccer (aka football) season lasts from September till end-May (the following year). Unless you don't mind experiencing the city coming to a total standstill, feel free to visit Milan during important matches like their local derbies, World Cup matches involving Italy, European Cup involving Italy ;-) or when Milan (I mean, AC Milan) makes it to the Grand Champion's League Finals e.g. the CL Finals 2003.
A really, really HUGE screen will be put right smack in front of the DUOMO area/ Piazza Duomo (when the Azzurris play aka the Italian National Team) for soccer fans to congregate and cheer for their team/ Italy.
Back to the San Siro, there are daily guided tour of this mega-stadium. Entry to the stadium museum is via Gate 21 (San Siro). Time: From 10 am to 5 pm (However, there'll be a different schedule for matchdays). It'll be cool to have your picture taken together with the statues of F.Baresi, Paolo Maldini, G.Rivera, the legendary Marco Van Basten, R.Gullit and all the other Rossonero legends. Don't be too disappointed if the statues cannot be compared to those at the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in London. Oh well...
<br>
Equipment: For soccer tifosi, just remember to wear your favorite team gear i.e. for Rossoneri supporters (ahem), please wear their famous red and black striped shirt. Me? If I'm at the San Siro (which is really not often. Do you know how EXPENSIVE these tickets cost?!), I'll wear my No. 3 Maldini OR No. 7 Shevchenko shirts. :-D Forza Milan!
(Please excuse me if you're not a soccer fan. You don't know what you're missing!).
Updated (August 2006): Andriy Shevchenko has quit Milan and joined our arch rival, Chelsea Football Club in London. Traitor! I don't know what I'll do with my No 7 Milan shirt and my No. 7 Milan cushions. I'll probably make a bonfire of it someday (when I've recovered from my shock of his move to Chelsea).

Milan vs Inter match at San Siro
Milan 1 Inter 0
This is definitely the perfect score for Milan tifosi. ;-) During the Serie A Milan derby matches (played twice per season), you really wouldn't want to be stuck in Milan - if you aren't a fan of il calcio (football/soccer). The city center will get extremely crowded - esp. after the matches.... when all these crazy fans make their way from the San Siro to the city center to celebrate!
Sadly, the celebration is usually one-sided. AC Milan have been winning these derby matches consistently for a couple of years now.
Poor, poor Inter tifosi.....

The legend himself - Paolo Maldini
Unless you've just arrived from USA, you'll be forgiven for not knowing who this great man is. ;-) Every country on this Earth (including Africa!) knows who Maldini is - except USA!
Yes, this is none other than Mr Paolo Maldini himself - 4 times World Champion and Captain of AC Milan. He has been consistently voted by the media and fans worldwide as the Best Left Back Defender in the world and was the runner-up in the mid-1990s as World Player of the Year. It's a pity such accolades are usually reserved for the high-profile strikers instead of defenders. Maldini deserves nothing but the best.
In his younger days, way before Mr David Beckham became a style icon, Maldini was approached by Giorgio Armani to model his line of clothings. Knowing the humble Maldini, he declined. If only Mr Beckham has Maldini's humility. (Please - fans of Beckham, don't bombard me with nasty emails!).
Maldini currently marshalls the team in a central defender's role.

Catch a Milan Derby Match at San Siro
Sorry to Inter and Juve fans....
The Milan tifosi (read: fans) always look forward to games against our arch rivals like Inter and Juventus. The red and black Milan side of the city (supporting the Rossoneri which incidentally means Red/ Black in Italian) will go WILD whenever the team win such matches!
If you're a soccer fan, you'll enjoy the atmosphere during such moments in the city.
But if you're not a soccer fan...(sigh), what can I say? You'll feel choked in the city during match days and the days after. ;-)

Forza Milan!
Why, catch a soccer match at the almost 89,000 seat San Siro Stadium - featuring the 6 times European Champions --> AC Milan.
Alright, Mr Berlusconi, now that I've helped raise the profile of Milan, do I get season tickets to their games. ;-) Per favore?
