Built in the year 1400, the 87-room Hotel Nazionale a Montecitorio is housed in a 16th century palace and is located in the historic center of Rome. This is the corporate hotel of the current European financial institution I'm with. And this is where I would stay when I'm in Rome (from 2001 onwards).
Unique Qualities: This hotel is within walking distance to our main banking branch in Rome... including the Pantheon and Spanish Steps.

On another trip to Rome, I was fortunate enough to stay at the beautiful resort hotel - ROME CAVALIERI HILTON. This is the corporate hotel where the Bank (I used to work for - Citigroup) uses in Rome - be it for business/ offsite meetings or leisure. This amazing 5-star deluxe resort hotel literally overlooks the Vatican City - plus their hotel rooms are considered plush (in European standards) especially if you're arriving from North America, Australia, New Zealand or Asia where the standard hotel rooms are LARGE in size. If you happen to choose this hotel, don't worry about having to pay through your nose for cab fares to the city center (Via Condotti). The good news is - there is a FREE bus shuttle service which runs frequently from the hotel (located atop Monte Mario Park) to the city center 15 minutes away.
Unique Qualities: Even if you don't stay at this hotel, you must still pop over and try a heavenly meal at their roof garden restaurant - hailed as one of the Top Ten BEST in Rome AND in Italy: ' La Pergola'. Please see under "RESTAURANT" for more info about this amazing restaurant, my personal favorite here in Rome.

Claridge Hotel: If You Like To Stay In A First-Class Haunted Hotel

The Claridge Hotel is located in the quiet residential Parioli district and is about 20 minutes away (by bus) to the Via Veneto (2KM away). The hotel is also within walking distance to the Borghese Museum and Borghese Park. The Claridge Hotel has completely been renovated and it is now equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like air conditioning, pay TV, satellite TV, internet connection points, minibar and safe deposit box. There is also a fitness center equipped with Sauna and Turkish bath to pamper all hotel guests!
Unique Qualities: I don't know whether or not to recommend you guys to stay here. But you need to be a braveheart if you finally decide to choose this hotel. You see, on one of the nights, my Aunt (who chaperoned me on my first trip to Rome) thought she saw an apparition... a ghost... yes, in the middle of the night! At first she thought it was me who had just sneaked back from some late night partying with my friends... but when she noticed that I was actually sound asleep in my other twin bed - just next to her, she freaked out! And I mean, she REALLY freaked out! Fortunately, the ghost/ apparition didn't bother us. The next night, we made it a point to bless our room before nightfall. And yes, we didn't encounter any more ghosts for the rest of our stay in Rome. Phew! I don't think the hotel will admit that their guests meet with ghostly encounters at night.
