Getting TO/AROUND: MARCO POLO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Venice's Marco Polo International Airport is situated approximately 25 minutes away from the city. The airport is served by buses, trains and cabs.... and car rental companies. If you're heading towards the direction of Piazza San Marco (like us), I'd highly recommend that you take the boat for approx. US$10.00. What's more, you'll get to enjoy a panoramic view of the Venetian lagoon during your 40-minute ride. The vaporetto, or water bus is the most practical way to get around Venice when you don't feel like walking. It's more economical to take these water taxis when you have a group of 5 or more people.... or have extra money to burn. P.S. Just remember, when boarding the vaporetto at a stop that doesn't have a ticket booth, immediately request the vaporetto driver for a biglietto (ticket). Otherwise, you'll be subject to a fine.Not kidding.
