Playground For The Rich & Famous Ah, the fabled COTE D'AZUR - or in English, the French Riviera - is a string of lovely beaches and resorts.
The most famous and glitzy resorts must surely be CANNES, NICE and MONTE CARLO*. But there are still many, many more little villages and towns scattered along this southern coast worth visiting.....
Welcome to the playground of Europe... the land of "ritz and glitz".... as the yachts anchored at the marina of ST TROPEZ can testify. But hey, these aren't just cities for the rich and famous too, ya know.

| | And This Is How It All Began.... Ever since the English began visiting the French Riviera during the 19th century, it has developed into a playground for the rich and famous.
Generation upon generation of filthy rich Europeans and Americans have made the Côte d'Azur an eclectic mix of the world's finest luxuries and a style and elegance which is quintessentially French. |
| This is where the Rich & Famous dock their yachts. |
| | For the adventourous few out there in cyberspace, you can try hangliding in the mountains above Antibes; take a 4x4 trip across some very rugged terrain and hit the calanques near Cassis for a rock climbing adventure (God bless your soul).... OR tour the spectacular walled cities of the region and take a look at life on the range with the "cowboys" of the Camargue.
And who knows by then, you'll be ready to taste the glamorous Riviera with a parasailing trip over Cannes and end it with a memorable visit to the picturesque seaport of Villefranche!
P.S. Please also refer to my Travel Page on "MONACO" for more information on that other glitzy city.
"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.' - Robert Louis Stevenson.
Footnote: This travel page is written from my very first impressions of this beautiful city during my first visit in the mid-1990s. Don't worry, the tips aren't ancient though... ;-) I've visited NICE thrice after my first trip. I hope you'll find my experiences useful in helping you plan for your forthcoming holiday. Merci Beaucoup!

| Pros: | "Who wouldn't want to bump into a famous movie star? Or try your luck at the casino? Or go sunbathing on their pebbled beaches - er... topless, please." | | Cons: | "Hold on to your wallets and purses! And beware of those gypsy kids. I was robbed here... right on Place Massena by 3 gypsy kids!!" | | In A Nutshell: | "The playground for the Rich & Famous... and those who think they are rich and famous :-)) where most things here are over-priced. But what the heck, have a good time!" |
