costa daurada palace: family apart hotel Sol Costa Daurada Review

this hotel is great for the children as they are entertained with the mini disco every evening and there are leaders that will look after the children during the day as well. as we were a 3 adult party i cannot comment on the care but i didnt hear any complaints. this apart hotel was located with-in walking distance of portaventura, so if you dont want to pay the high prices of staying in one of their 3 hotels then this is a good option. we stayed in the hotel side and the room was a good size and very clean. our son of 23 had his own room next door and as a single occupant we only paid an extra £10 per night which was great. he had the exact same size room too. there are only 5 ajoining rooms and they can be requested but you may not get them. we didn,nt know this so he was in the ajoining room to a very noisy family who left after a few days. i think this is bad planning on the hotel as they must have realised we were together as we were on the same booking. the whole hotel is spotless and a team of maids start the cleaning at 7.30 in the morning. i would recommend this hotel for the cleanliness and the staff, however be prepared for the hire charges and deposits of EVERYTHING. in the apartments you will neeed to pay 100e in cash as a deposit and they check everything when you leave!!!! we arrived at 10am and they are very strick at check in time which is 2pm. we had to put our suitcases in a hold at a cost of 1e. we had read about this and its in the first choice brouchure so we took a small case with swim wear and shorts in. had we done this then we have been as cross as many of the guests who had to search through large cases.

Unique Qualities: the food was very good and there ws a wide choice well for our taste anyway. we had a fish night which was not to be missed and a mexican night which we enjoyed but heard complaints from others as they didnt like the food, but there was always another option for them. if you are staying in the apartments then you can you the restuarant and pay for the buffet which was only 14e for the evening well worth the money. there are 3 pools here one is for the family then there is a baby pool and then the other which is in the othere side caters for the floats and ball games which was fantastic as you didnt have to keep getting away from floats or in deed be knocked on the head with a ball. i read on other sites that there were not enough sun beds but we went the 1st in september once the kids had gone back to school and there were plenty. there is o roof top area for adults only were you will find a gym (not very good) a small pool and a jacuzzi. the veiws from the top are great and you can see dragon khan at portaventura.
