"fading glam!" Los Angeles by mindcrime

For me, Los Angeles isn’t a city I’d want to live, but I liked it as a visitor and for some strange reason we did all the touristy things! I don’t know why but everything fits here, it seems all that glamorous hype, with the big cars, the big mansions, the holywood stars, the upscale shopping at Beverly Hills, the famous beaches and huge boulevards, the palm trees I remember from the movies or the TV series, and so many other things, different but yet about the same city, LA! As you can understand, it is difficult to get bored here with hundreds of museums, great weather for the beach, and several other attractions like La Brea, Rodeo Drive, Universal Studios, El Pueblo de los Angeles, Downtown etc. The only problem is that it’s very big and the attractions are spread out so you may need a car if you are in a hurry. We used the public transportation a lot which was good but we lost a lot of time, we didn’t mind though because we also see the real people that live away from the glamorous districts.
In the late 80s some glam metal bands (also known as hair metal bands because of their long hair always from hairdresser, full of make up etc) were the most popular bands in the world. Bands like Guns N Roses, Motley Crew, LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, Warrant and so many other were selling albums like crazy with many top hits on Billboard charts and they were living in paradise with all that rock n roll attitude and crazy parties full of girls and drugs. For most of them this paradise turned into hell so what’s left are just some good albums. I recently saw LA Guns in Athens, in a small underground club, 20 years before they played in big arenas!
The truth is that I also love other bands from LA, old and new, like Bad Religion, Love, Eagles, Frank Zappa, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bangles, Metallica, Megadeth, Dark Angel, the Doors, Alcatrazz, Armored Saint, Byrds, Audioslave, Dream Syndicate, Suicidal Tendencies, Janes Addiction, Saviour Machine, Quiet Riot, WASP etc

Hello, Konstantinos ! You have created a wonderful detailed presentation! ~ Thanks for sharing your insights! ~
Nice LA page, glad you enjoyed it!
terrific page, great pictures. could not believe the interior of the library, not what one would expect. the interior of the cathedral is stunning. nice stuff, enjoyable reading.
Great LA page Konstantinos! It's been years since I've been there. The land around the HOLLYWOOD sign is currently for sale. A group is trying to buy it for park land.
Top Class Tips...as usual, I really enjoy reading your tips. It's like I am actually right there with you! Bravo Konstandino!
Nice tips, I'm not so fond of all this Hollywood hype, but would surely love to visit the theme parks :D
