Metsovo is a picturesque (and touristic) mountain village with 3.000 inhabitants, 62km away from Ioannina at the mountain chain of Pindos, at the edge of Epirus, Thessalia and Western Macedonia prefectures of Greece. It’s really worth to go up there at the 1200m. During winter the village is covered by snow but it has a lot of visitors because of the ski center that’s near by.

Here, you can taste and buy some excellent local cheeses, sweets, the local wine Katoi and have a nice lunch with meat on grill at one of the taverns of the village (many go to Metsovo just to eat the meat dishes of the taverns).

The landscape is beautiful up there so it’s worth to drive the difficult road till the village. In winter is even more beautiful, covered with snow and toooo cold of course. The is a ski center near by. The other seasons you can try canoe kayak at the river or walking/hiking at the mountains.

There are also some museums like the Folklore museum, a gallery with paintings etc

Aoos lake looks wonderful! I remember that grilled foof was terrific!
