Pramanda Travel Guide: 23 reviews and 61 photos
Pramanda municipality belongs to the Ioannina prefecture (65km south east of Ioannina city) and situated in the mountains of Tzoumerka. The basic village Pramanda is the biggest in Tzoumerka with 1500 inhabitants. The village is built there since 15th century on 840m high at the foothill of Stroggoula (2.107m).
You can find many taverns, cafes and shops to wonder around for a day and you can also see some churches, monasteries, a marvelous cave etc There are two or three small hotels in the area so it will be nice to spend the night here before continue your trip.
Don’t forget your photo camera. From the river Arachthos and up to the mountains until you reach Pramanda you will have some breath taking views, you will see the forests(fir, pine trees and others) and then the empty high mountains (no trees after 1300m). Especially in winter most of the high mountains are covered by snow. Tzoumerka is a mountain chain with many peak over 2000m and covers an area inside the prefectures of Ioannina and Arta. There are 23 villages with around 7500 inhabitants. Most of them do animal husbandry at the mountain pastures etc.
Because of the mountains and the rivers you have many choices of alternative sports like rafting, cayak, hike walk, climb the mountains, mountain bike, canyon crossing etc
It’s too cold during the winter, dress well! It can be very rainy during autumn or spring.
-admire the nature around, it is gorgeous
-visit the cave Anemotrypa
-see the old (more than 150 years) plane tree in the central square
-visit the monastery of Agia Paraskevi
-drink water from the “arapis” spring
-visit the church Agia Paraskevi at the central square and some other smaller churches
-visit the near by villages like Melisurgi etc
-do alternative sports like rafting, cayak, mountain bike etc
