Washington DC is a great place for a tourist.

DC is the capital of USA,
DC is the city where the White House and the US Capitol are, two buildings that we have seen so many times on TV/Cinema so when we got there we said ”what is this? Why the white house is so small?”
Most of the sights(museums/monuments) are located at The Mall, a great huge park that you can walk safely day and night. Make an itinerary though so to enjoy your time, we used the tourmobile one day to move around, it passes from all the main points of interest.
DC is a city that some people come as daytrip from New York! Forget it! We stayed 4 days but a week is much better for a visitor imo.
DC is full of great museums and you can visit most of them for free! I cant believe I missed so many of them but not even 2 weeks would be enough.
DC is full of monuments and memorials, so many that you will get sick of them after some days :) The good things is that in every memorial I noticed restrooms, gift shops and usually a helpful Park Ranger that will help you with any question you have.
DC is a wonderful city but also a dirty one and the traffic is a nightmare and the metro wont take you everywhere and yes, there is crime and homeless people but as I said DC is a wonderful city.

    Excellent information here, Konstantinos! Very good work! Those Megabus fares are incredibly good value! Shame about the lousy Cappuccino, but sounds like you enjoyed plenty of good food and drink!
