food and drink

Gourmet eating is a not high priority at rock festivals. You just need something to fill your stomach as you drink the beers one after the other. There are not real restaurants in the area but you can choose one of the many food stalls on the festival site. They are everywhere and especially inside the stage site they are one next to the other. The variety aint that big so you have to choose one of usual fast food items that definitely you’re gonna hate after two or three days. In 2009 I noticed a flag over most of the stalls so you could understand the country where the food originally belongs although it wasn’t that difficult to match pizzas with Italy, pita gyros with Greece, creppes with France etc

The typical hot dogs (I cant stand them anymore, it’s the only place I eat some anyway) cost 5 euros, the pizza slice 4-5e and most of other choices (steaks, burgers etc) are at the level. The calzone seemed to be more practical to keep you fill for some time. The Chinese stall was a disaster with that spicy (from hell) spaghety thing.

At the food market area just outside the entrance of the stage site has some sandwiches that you should try some with tomato if you want your bowel to function normally for some time.

As for the beers, they are everywhere and they cost 4 euros (usually Budweiser). You cant bring drinks from the camping area to the stage site (the security is strict) but you can bring orange, tea or other juice with no problem. For water (something difficult to find here till 2005) there are 1,5lt bottle in the market area. I remember the first time I was desperate (and thirsty) and a german told me “why you need water, we have beers!” :) Of course, there are many people that bring dozens of beers at their tends but I preferred to drink alcohol only at the stage site with good live music.
