Crozet Travel Guide: 3 reviews and 13 photos

Crozet is a small french village with about 2000 inhabitants in Rhone-Alpes region in Ain department. It is located at the foot of Jura mountains and that’s why a popular starting point among people who like hiking, skiing etc).

Crozet is located 18km WN from Geneva, 14km from Geneva International airport, 8km from CERN, 72km from Lausanne.

Many people that work at CERN (on the border between France and Switzerland) prefer to rent houses in near by French villages because the prices are cheaper than in Switzerland. A friend of mine lives in Crozet so I spent some days there. Unless you want to go hiking there’s not much to do here other than watching endless meadows, farmland and large forests. Most of the days I was sightseeing Geneva and returned late in the night si didn’t walk much around Crozet, I didn’t even see many locals except some friendly dogs and the ducks! :)

There’s a cable car that carries people to the top of Jura but I didn’t use it and from what I read now in Wikipedia other places of interest include the remains of the château de Rossillon, a church (reconstructed around 1830), the Crozet forest, and the Monts-Jura ski station.
