Ete Kurttekin at Babylon - Istanbul

Ete Kurttekin at Babylon

Babylon: Babylon

Babylon is a great live venue. Although the tickets for famous bands sell fast you can always check their site in advance to be sure. Hopefully, the night we visited the club we saw the local singer ETE KURTTEKIN so we just bought the tickets from the box office right opposite the club (15TL). I was listening his first solo album Suyun Ustune on the bus and trains the previous days so it was nice to see him live, he because a bit popular after his appearance at the Turkish movie Av Mevsimi.

The sound in the club was very good, cant say the same for the prices though, 10TL for a bottle beer (there’s no draft beer). By the way, while waiting for the concert your drinks at Nublu will be %50 off (Nublu is one street down from Babylon at Jurnal Sokak No:4)

ORA cafe - Istanbul

ORA cafe

something for everyone!

From traditional music to rock/jazz this city has something for everyone!

Around Taksim square you can find many bars and clubs with live music. Walk down Istiklal Cad. and in many small alleys you will see signs for many of them like Mojo Blues Bar, Kemanci, Hayal Kahvesi, Du Rock(metal pub)... For Jazz music try Nardis Jazz Club. For rock/ethnic and other concerts try Babylon. In this area you can go to many cinemas or theatre or just sit in one of the many cafes.

There are some folk music bars that called TURKU BAR. You can hear Fasil music there. Many people from Anatolia go there and enjoy to sing along. I found many places like that and we had great time, drinking a lot of drinks although in most of them no one spoke English.

There are many dance nightclubs -during the summer- along the Bosphorus like Pasha but they are more pricey…. Reina & Laila are famous nightclubs too but I never been there,,, Everyone find Ortakoy area cool for its nightlife or Etiler (bring more money here!)

Kumkapi area is famous for its fish restaurants so come here if this is your way for spending the night!

Sultanahmet area turns up to an empty area during the night.
