Mendoza is the capital of Mendoza province in Argentina and it’s located on the eastern side of the Andes at the Northern central part of the province, 1040 km away from Buenos Aires and 380 from Santiago(Chile). The Greater Mendoza area has a population of about 1.000.000 but the city itself has about 111.000 inhabitants.
Many visitors pass through Mendoza on their way to Chile or backwards and also a lot of climbers use it as a base on their way to Aconcagua mountain (6.962 metres, the highest in the western hemisphere). The city is beautiful with many trees in every small or big street but also a lot of cars that spoil the good picture.
Mendoza is great to walk into for a day and then it offers a lot of sport opportunities like hiking, horseback riding, mountaineering, rafting etc It is also famous for its wine so you need a day for a wine tour (cheers!).
I enjoyed walking from square to square (some of them are very nice), the friendly people, the wine of course.
My main motive of visiting Mendoza was the spectaculars landscapes I’ve seen before on photos and I fount out it was real. Seeing the snow over the mountains at the Andes, the weird Puente del Inca bridge and the 5 hour horse riding among the mountain are some of best moments of my entire trip in Argentina.
The climate in the province is usually sunny and dry with warm summers and cold winters and there is a difference between day and night temperatures.
Day 1:walk every little street of Mendoza, museums etc
Day 2 bus tour in the mountains, Puente del Inca bridge
Day 3 horseriding
Day 4 wine tour
Day 5 relaxing in Mendoza, shopping and in the afternoon nightbus to Buenos Aires
I went to Mendoza by plane(1,5h) but I returned 5 days after by bus (14h)

I came for the wine tour but then found there was much more to do here. your horse riding tour sounds like a lot of fun :) I did it once in Colombia and loved it. have to agree, ice cream in Argentina is one of the most delicious... yummy!!
Beautiful country and the Puente del Inca looks fabulous. I love places like that. You are quite the explorer!
