"Big but nice!" a Rosario Travel Page by mindcrime

I took my breakfast at the bus terminal of Buenos Aires and my submarino(hot dark chocolate) was really bad but I was feeling really tired having slept only 2 hours the previous night because of the amazing concert of OZZY at River Plate Stadium. I opened the map of Argentina to check out the NorthEast part of Argentina that I was going to visit the next days and my first stop would be ROSARIO at the province of Santa Fe(the capital is Santa Fe).

It’s the third biggest city of Argentina but beautiful enough to stay there for three days. I guess, what I liked most was the fact that Rosario is located on the banks of the Rio Parana, a wide river that you can admire and see while walking the nice long (some kilometers for sure!) promenade where locals go for jogging or just having a coffee.

It’s located 300km NE of Buenos Aires on the western shore of the Parana River (Rio Parana in Spanish) about 24 metres above mean sea level. As I said, the city is big enough, with almost 1.000.000 inhabitants and has a lot of skyscrapers to hold them although it’s difficult to enjoy the sky/sun among them.

There is a central pedestrian street called Cordoba, that is the commercial centre of the city (San Martin is another pedestrian street crossing each other). There are also some big avenues that connect different parts of the city like for exable Boulevard Orono that connect the riverside with park Independencia etc and there you can see some really nice architecture.

The central square of Rosario is Plaza 25 de Mayo where you can see and visit the Cathedral, the Palacio de los Leones and some museums like the Decorative Art Museum. Then you can walk at Oath Passage that will lead you to the Flag Monument that is the landmark of Rosario because Rosario is the birthplace of the argentine flag. Cordoba street is the basic commercial street and starts from Flag Monument park and splits the center of the city (its partly pedestrian).

Don’t forget to check some other interesting things like some nice museums, the house that Che Guevara was born, the beautiful women, some nice parks, sun bath in the long beaches, visit the islands of the river etc The town center is the area between the river and between Orono Boulevard and Pellegrini Avenue.
