Restaurant Name: The Common Man
Wow. I'd heard rave reviews about this place from a few people independently, but was skeptical - this is a small town, maybe it doesn't take much to impress people. Wrong.
The Common Man is one of a "family of restaurants" in New Hampshire. In Windham, it's a converted barn, complete with vintage Americana on the walls (but you get the sense that things accumulated naturally, not like the chains that try for the same look). The hay loft is now the bar, and I swear you can see how the stalls were laid out, but the overall effect is warmth, cheer, and friends, even if you go alone.
So it looks unassuming - then you see the menu...then taste the food...it's a real find, and definitely worth going out of your way for. Might want to make reservations: we went on a Wednesday night at 6:30 pm and the place was packed.
They always serve white chocolate at the very end of the meal.
Favorite Dish: Maple Leaf Farm Duck (slow-rasted with an apple cider glaze). Mum always orders the Hazelnut Crusted Chicken. Dad likes the Rack of Lamb. White chocolate mousse for dessert. I don't know why they're good, but yum.

Directions: Exit 3 on 93 North, merge right, turn right at the light. The restaurant is perhaps 1/2 - 1 mile down on the right, in a large, low barn beside an old yellow farmhouse. The sign is relatively visible, but the letters are small, so be looking for it.
