Meeting friends The first time I was in Greece I stayed in Akrata. I visited Patras several times. I used to enjoy very much my visits: Patras reminded me to my home city, Alicante: a port city, about the same population, the climate, the fortress in a hill close to the sea...
Later, on September 2005, I had the opportunity to stay in Patras for one month, collaborating with a professor of the University. I met a member of the forum, Yank_o, and his family. Meeting them was really nice. We spent some evenings together and had a good time. We took this picture to share it at the forum.

The bridge The Rio-Antirio bridge was just a project the first time I visited Patras, in 1992. Nowadays, it connects the peninsula of Peloponnese with mainland Greece. Walking on it or crossing it is all an experience.
The Battle of Lepanto took place near here. On 7 October 1571, the Ottoman fleet and the Christian Holy League clashed in the Gulf of Patras. There are some memorials in Nafpaktos. |
The port Patras' port is the main point of communication with the Ionian islands. I recommend to take a ferry and visit them.
In the picture, I was travelling to Cefalonia. |
