Pisa is known especially for its leaning tower. Many tourist only visit the Piazza dei Miracoli, where the Duomo, the Baptistery and the Campanile are.
Pisa is a very pleasant town. There are many places to visit: churches, palaces, squares... In fact, Pisa was a very importatn city in the Middel Ages, being a flourishing city before Florence. Have a walk along the Lungarno and discover buildings from the zenith of its history. |
|  | Piazza dei Miracoli The Piazza dei Miracoli is really amazing.
The Campanile is incredibly leaning. But even though it were not leaning, it would be worth of admiration. Its rounded shape makes it unique.
The facades of the Baptistery and the Duomo are marvellous as well. Do not miss the bronze doors of the Cathedral. |
| | If the facade of the Cathedral is beautiful, the interior is superb: the side chapels, the carved pulpit, the apse with the mosaic of Christ in Majesty, the coffer ceiling, the fresco in the domo... We appreciated to contemplate all these pieces in their original site, not in a museum.
Also the Baptistery contains marvellous pieces, such as the pulpit. From the gallery there are fantastic views of the Duomo and the Tower behind. |
