| | If there is a place in Jordan that really used to attract me, this was Petra. When I planned my trip, this was the place I most wanted to see. Petra fulfilled all my expectations. We entered early in the morning, after crossing the Siq (the shaft).
The city was the capital of the Nabateans, built around 100 BC. The archaeological site is full of hellenistic façades of ancient tombs. |
| | Monuments The Theater, the Treasury, the Urn Tomb, the Royal Tombs, the Corinthian Tomb, the Triclinium of the lions etc, and finally, the Monastery, on the highest part of the city.

christine.j Fri Oct 2, 2009 16:25 UTC Thanks a lot for taking me to Petra, at least I was able to visit virtually. When I was in Eilat, I had the chance to go but didn't, as it was too expensive for me. Hopefully one day...In the meantime, thank you for your info and the pictures. | JLBG Tue Jul 7, 2009 05:07 UTC Petra is an outstanding location and very high on my wish list.
