Calpe is an ancient fishing village at the heart of Costa Blanca and lies within the region of Valencia, it is a town rich on history and culture. Calpe is dominated by the towering rock of Ifach which reaches to a height of 332m and it is now a nature reserve. You can reach the summit of the rock by means of a tunnel through the rock. The views to be had from the top are magnificant and on a clear day the Island of Ibiza is visible. The harbour is very busy and comes alive in the afternoon when fishing boats come in and the auctions start. There are tavernas all along the harbour and at night all the owners are plying you with samples of their food in the hope that you will eat at their taverna. There is a marina that sits alongside the old fishing port and from here you can get boat trips that take you around the rock and also to the nearby resort of Benidorm |
