The resort of Skala

On our second visit to Kefalonia we stayed once again in Skala. It is the largest resort in the south of the Island. There is plenty going on in Skala, ranging from water sports, scuba diving etc. The beach is long and sandy with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. There are lots of apartments to be found here and the resort is still rapidly growing with many of the new apartments being built along the beach road towards Poros and I also believe they are now building around the ruins of the Old Village, some are near the top of the hill and the others are further down nearer Skala itself. Most of the bars, restaurants, tavernas and gift shops are situated along the main street itself. The main street is very relaxed during the day and becomes very lively during the night

This fountain is half way up the main street by the Church. The playground with swings and slides is right next to it. Every night about 8pm the children are all brought here by their parents and can be seen playing until very late.

Interesting and useful tips. I haven't visited any Greek islands yet but have just come back from a sightseeing tour of mainland, which was great. The islands - next time.
