Ginza: Enter at your wallet's peril - Ginza!
  • Tip Rating:
  • When I look at Ginza, I think of Rodeo Drive in LA, Orchard Road in Singapore, KLCC in Kuala Lumpur and Knightsbridge in London.

It's all about shopping and having deep pockets. So for those of us who are not well-heeled, it's still fun to window shop and dream. On weekends, the streets are turned into pedestrial walkway so grab a chair, sit in the middle of the street and gawk at the super luxury brands available here!

My favourite shop here is really the Apple Centre. You won't miss it as it's next to the Mikimoto store. With 5 storeys to satisfy even the most hard core Apple fan, you'll definitely not be bored here.

If you're in Ginza with your boyfriend or husband, send them to the Apple Centre and get them out of your hair so that you can shop in peace :-)

Tsukiji Market: Of fish and sushi
  • Tip Rating:
  • Get ready for a seafood galore and to smell a little fishy :-)

At Tsukiji Market, you need to get there really early (like 6am!) and see all the different types of fish being brought in here from the deep blue sea. It's a beehive of activity in here and it's amazing to see what's being caught and what will become of it.

Watch the men zooming around in electric carts carrying crates of fish, they believe they are F1 drivers!

Get a map of the market from the station or the men working at the market to see all the different sections of the market (we were lucky to be given 1 without asking - we must have looked like typical tourists with our cameras).

We had the best sushi at unbelievable prices here. Please see restaurant tip and pictures in travelogue.

    Asakusa: Say a little prayer
  • Tip Rating:
  • Continuing our temple/shrine theme from Kyoto, we visited Tokyo famed Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. I was here many years ago and amazingly, it has not changed much.

Best time to visit the temple is before the sun sets so that you can take a look around its surroundings and go inside the temple. When it gets dark, the lights come up and the whole complex looks quite different.

This is the place to shop for little souvenirs (tiny key chains, charms for mobile phones etc.) and snacks as well as dine at one of the manu restaurants nearby.

Harajuku & Omote Sando: It's ok to oogle here
  • Tip Rating:
  • That's right, in fact the folks here want to be oogled at and hence they have really dressed up to catch your attention. On Sundays, head down to Takeshita Street in Harajuku and look out for these famous uniquely (more weird and wonderful too) dressed young people. It's the place to see and to be seen!

On this street, you'll find funky, trendy shops that won't cost an arm and a leg like Ginza. It gets super crowded here so watch out you have been warned.

Or from Shinjuku, take the JR train to Harujuku (Yen130). In front of the station, across the street is Takeshita Street

Disney Resort: Relive your childhood at Tokyo Disneyland
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Was cleaning out my cupboards and looking at old photo albums. Found the ticket stub of Tokyo Disneyland dated Dec 1996! At that time, this was my first Disneyland and I was very young. My old photos showed that I had tons of fun.

After that, the Gold Coast, Australia theme parks and and Los Angeles Disney plus Universal Studios came my way, and by the time I reached Orlando, Florida I had theme park overdose!
