There's something about Japan that makes you come back again and again. Is it the ever-helpful people, the unique Japanese food like sushi/sashimi that you can't get enough of? Is the rich culture and history as well as the wonderful landscape? I think it's all these and more. Though I've been to Tokyo before on 2 separate occasions, it is still refreshing and new. This time around, I have included Kyoto and Takayama in my trip as well. For tips on what you need to do before leaving Japan (oh yes, it pays to be organised!), stick around and read on. I would have separate pages for each of the different Japanese location visited ( Kyoto, Nara, Himeji, Takayama and Tokyo). Here's a sampler. |
| | Kyoto - old world charm If you like ancient feel, shrines and temples, this is the place to be. Kyoto is a city which has retained its old world charm. Much smaller than Tokyo, it's very manageable by train, bus or on foot.
What to expect from Kyoto - history, culture, great food and of course geishas! Find out more from my Kyoto page. |
| | Takayama - a breath of fresh air I love Takayama! Situated on the slopes of the Japan alps, it's beautiful, refreshing and everything Tokyo is not.
Life is gentle here but weather can be harsh. Autumn is a beautiful time here with the colourful leaves that the trees will sport. Winter is very cold here but great for hot springs and steam baths! |
