Kalimera & welcome to Greece!

Melting pot of old and new

Ancient church in Athens
It's easy to understand why 1 visit to Greece is never enough and how its people, culture and food can capture your heart.

Though my visit was pre-Olympics, the city of Athens was well on its way to hosting the greatest event of the year and its people did it with a lot of pride. Further into the mainland, various ancient civilisation came and went, all leaving their fingerprints on the land.

Greek islands on the other hand are like jewels in the sea. The deep blue Aegean sea invites summer revellers to Mykonos for parties whilst the majestic windswept vista of Santorini entices lovers to fall in love all over again.

For something more laidback, there's always Crete with its rolling countryside, fabulous beaches and the freshest food you can imagine.

Then there's Rhodes, one of the closest island to Turkey. Its potpourri of Turkish and Greek influence created a fascinating concoction of architecture, food and culture.

2-weeks in this diverse country is certainly not enough. Will definitely visit Greece again this time heading north of mainland.
