Champs Elysées: Take a stroll at night : Champs-Elysees
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Champs-Elysees is exciting and romantic at night with the sparkling lights and beautiful streetside restaurants.

Eating here though was expensive! It was fun to soak in the sights and sounds, and people watch on this very famous avenue. There are also cinemas, theaters and cabarets too.

Using my postcard as picture here as my photo had blurry lights :-(

    La Madeleine: La Madeleine
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • L'église de la Madeleine, or L'église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine (or simply "La Madeleine"), is a church in the 8th arrondissement of Paris that was designed as a temple to the glory of Napoleon's army.

Skies were rather gray and rainy that day so only admired the exterior. Don't you think it looks a little like the Acropolis in Athens?

    Invalides: Les Invalides
  • Tip Rating:
  • Les Invalides comprises the largest single collection/complex of monuments in Paris, including:

    Musée de l'Armée
    Musée des Plans-Reliefs
Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération
    L'Eglise de St-Louis-des-Invalides

In 1670, Louis XIV - the Sun King - founded Les Invalides near what was then called the Grenelle Plain. An old soldiers home, it was funded by a five year levy on the salaries of soldiers currently serving in the army at that time. The first stones were laid in 1671, for what was to become a complex providing quarters for 4,000.

The most significant event in the history of Les Invalides however, is the return of the body of Napoléon in 1840.
