Æbelø is an island located just north of Fyn. The island is a functioning nature reserve only inhabited by the ranger that keeps the marked paths and overlooks the island.
Since the island became a nature park in 1999 the forests have been transformed to traditional danish leaf-forests. There is some wildlife on the island including quite some deers, goats/sheep and all sorts of small animals and reptiles (including the Stålorm a rather small and harmless snake).
You can get to the island by boat, or by wading from Jersore, and the following the sand-stretch nortwards to the island. The wading route called "Æbleø ebbevej" is marked, and frequently used in the summertime.
