ROMANIA

After all Romania...

the Carpathians
The story goes that the initial pan was to visit Syria and Lebanon. But due to instability in the later and an offer for cheap flight ticket to Bucharest were the main reasons to decide and change destination.
Though in the neighborhood I had little travel info on Romania. I guess this happens, when you focus on more "exotic" destinations, than discovering your neighbor countries. I knew more or less that there are the Carpathians and the land of Count Dracula. And a bit more about cities like Constanta, Galati, Iasi that are historically connected to Greece. And "something" about painted monasteries somewhere in the north.
My travelmate was a bit hesitating in the beginning, so I started searching the internet for sights and photos. And I found a great list of things to see and fill in 10 days that my trip lasted. There was excitement and any doubts for change of plans gone... Romania, here we come!!
Wooden church in Maramures

Why Romania?

From the beautiful Saxon cities of Transylvania, to the amazing mountain landscapes of the Carpathians, to the rural beauty of Maramures and the outstanding wooden churches and painted monasteries, Romania has a lot to offer to the traveller and its easy to get seduced!!
Given that accommodation and restaurant facilities are meeting higher standards, roads are improving, this new EU member country can offer you memorable holidays. Specially if you're interested in culture and nature.
