"Magical mystical Kyaiktiyo" Kyaiktiyo by hydronetta

No visit to Myanmar would have been complete without visiting the wonderful Kyaiktiyo pagoda.
This natural wonder is located on top of mountain Kyaiktiyo at 1102m above sea level. It is recognized as a wonder due to its unique position atop a gilded boulder which is delicately balanced on the edge of the slopping surface of a separate rock table, the slope dropping perpendicularly into the valley below. The boulder and balancing rock barely touch each other.

Legend says that this precarious position of the boulder is held centuries by virtue of the power of the Hair relic of Gautama Buddha enshrined in the pagoda

Kyaiktiyo is a popular pilgrimage site, visited by thousands daily and therefore a unique place to get a glimpse of the religious feelings in Myanmar
