Did you know that there is a skating rink on Eiffel tower, since 1969! Skating on the first level of Eiffel tower is free! Euh, once you paid the fees for regular visit. . . . For fees see the official Eiffel Tower website: http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/teiffe l/uk/pratique/acces/page/tarifs.html?id=2_3 . I was not there, as I usually avoid crowds, but this Sunday (2008,01,06), walking in the capital city of the world between the Modern Art Museum of Paris and the Trocadero, I unexpectedly stepped across a vintage cars rally and suddenly I thought of a down under VT-friend of mine, looking at some cars, and thought he might be around, as he is a specialist of Antarctica, and he may have taken advantage of the current exhibition at the Eiffel Tower about life in the antipodes: Arctic ( http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/teiffel/uk/actualites/page/news_list.html?f=1 ) and came from down under with his car and his winter sports equipment! I am sure he would have liked that! Sorry, no ski or sledge, only skating. . . . but I may try that one night this winter. I think skating on the Eiffel Tower must be an interesting experience. On the main picture is the 4CV laden with skis, sledges and other stuffs. . . Same car with the Eiffel tower in background on picture2; a few 4CV in front of Trocadero on picture 3, another one in front of Trocadero, on Picture 4, and. . . . the skating rink on the first level of Eiffel Tower on picture 5 (courtesy: http://www.linternaute.com/sortir/noel2005-paris/illuminations-animations/11.shtml ).

gilabrand Mon May 11, 2009 21:09 UTC Never knew about the lily of the valley tradition. We left Paris early in the morning on May 1 and the streets were TOTALLY deserted, with lots of rubbish strewn around. | BeatChick Sat Dec 6, 2008 23:56 UTC OMG! Your photo of La Defense on your Paris home page c'est magnifique! Cityvox - of my FAVE websites. With Pages Jaunes, I find most websites for Paris. Useful for finding inexpensive hotels!! AH! I, too, have a photo of "The Detective". LOVE Belleville. | Nemorino Sun Oct 5, 2008 14:22 UTC Fascinating detailed tips on the Cluny Museum, Natural History Museum, Notre Dame du Travail and that pair of lovers in the hand of God. And about Fearless John's Tower and St Serge de Radogene. So now I have 5 great places on my list for my next visit. |
